Konkan Coast is a rustic western coastline of India from Alibag to Mangalore. Pavas a part of Ratnagiri district is a great tourist location with tranquil beaches, exceptional seafood. Famous Desai Ambewale’s are from Pavas and have their farms in Pavas. Ratnagiri city is a few kilometers from Pavas and is connected to Mumbai, by NH-17 and with Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, Nanded, Nagpur and eastern parts of India by NH-204. Ratnagiri station lies on the Konkan Railway. Nearby attractions include religious locations (Ganapati Pule, Velneshwar, and Marleshwar) caves (Panhalekazi, Sangameshwar), palace (Thibaw) beautiful beaches (Mandovi, Ganapatipule), forts (Bankot, Mandangad, Ambolgad, Jaigad, Ratnadurg, Mahipatgad) bird sanctuaries (Vanadi valley, Anaskura Ghat), exotic forests (Pat Panhale, Bavnadi valley), water falls (Parshuram, Prachitgad, Marleshwar) and hot water springs (Unhavare, Aravali, Tural, Rajapur). Swami Swarupanand mandir which was constructed in the memory of Shri Swami Swarupanand who took samadhi here on 15th August 1974 is located near Pavas.
A modern naval base is being built in Ratanagiri and therefore Pavas has a potential to become popular and prosperous week end resort for officers and staff of naval base.
